Mark Hemstedt MCC Founding Partner
As the founding partner of The Works Partnership, The Coach Partnership and Newfield Asia, Mark brings to his coaching and training over 30 years of business and management experience, developed in his senior roles with multinationals. Mark specialises in coaching senior executives in leadership, management and change with a reputation for being able to bring forth the underlying conversations needed to unlock a leader’s full potential. Mark is known for his ability to create a close relationship with his clients and at the same time provide the directness often appreciated and needed by senior executives. Mark also specialises in health coaching and teaching leadership, self-awareness and coaching skills to managers and leaders within organisations.
In addition to his role as an executive or health coach, Mark is the Founding Partner of one of Asia’s most successful transformational training and coaching organisations. Having opened the company in South East Asia in 1995, Mark has built a business that has trained or coached over a million people. In addition to his corporate speciality, Mark has led projects to design and deliver training and coaching interventions for the Malaysian Government for the Character Building Module of their National Service Program, the United Nations in New York for their interventions in leadership in Asia around HIV, the Singapore Police Force Mentoring Program, UNICEF in Indonesia and more. Mark is the designer of many of our programs including our Health Coaching certification.
Mark started his career as a management trainee with Unilever in London. With an accounting background he developed a career with Unilever to encompass finance, internal audit, logistics, I.T. and planning. Coming to Asia in 1990, Mark filled leadership and board roles in Hong Kong, China, Thailand, and Korea before finalising his Unilever career as Commercial and Finance Director in Malaysia. The establishment of a transformational and coaching business saw Mark continue his stay in Malaysia but led him to opening offices and living in Indonesia and then Singapore where he is currently based. The group also has offices and clients in India and the UK as well as partner offices in Hong Kong, Taiwan and China.
Originally graduating from UK’s Warwick business school, Mark also has a Masters in Applied Psychology with Liverpool University in the UK. Mark is a qualified accountant and is accredited to teach MBTI® and FIRO-B® instruments. He is a Newfield Certified Coach (NCC) and an ICF Master Certified Coach (MCC). He is a Health Coach where he studied with Duke Integrative Medicine in the United States. Mark is an NLP practitioner, and is also certified to lead David Berceli’s Tension Release Exercises (TRE™) and George Leonard’s Samurai Game®. When not working, he has homes in Singapore and Thailand and enjoys golf and yoga, although his younger years were dominated by football. He is also a keen scuba diver where he is a PADI Dive Master and is a keen movie watcher and an ardent fan of his favourite football team. In 2012 he walked the 780km Camino de Santiago.
